Design agency dig deep for local forest
Bonfire design rounded off a year of CSR activities with a family tree planting day at the Forest of Marston Vale. They combined a team building day with tree planting, bacon butties and a donation to the Marston Vale Trust. The tree planting day launches Bonfire's long term support of Marston Vale as, alongside their sponsorship of 50 trees, they have pledged 40 hours of design and consultancy time to support the work of the Marston Vale Trust. This forms part of the environmental strand of their CSR policy which was developed with support from Kayte Judge at Goodthings. Kayte braved the arctic conditions to lend them a hand on the day too.

Bonfire Design names Keech Cottage as their Charity of the Year
Bonfire Design launched their new CSR policy through a staff training day at Keech Cottage, their charity partner for 2008/9. All staff attended the launch of their new CSR policy and were given a tour around the children's hospice by Paul Sutherland. Kayte Judge of Goodthings led a session about CSR and why it is relevant for Bonfire Design, before facilitating a group session to explore the new policy in depth. Bonfire Design kicked off their support of Keech Cottage by making a cash donation and setting up payroll giving scheme for any staff members who choose to give to Keech Cottage. Jason Pearce of Bonfire Design said ' It was good to get the whole team out of the studio and see the people that we hope to help over the coming year. We have done a lot of charity giving in the past but feel that more good can come from a dedicated partnership. We are really proud to be supporting Keech Cottage and all the good work they do for children with life-limiting conditions in the local area.' Bonfire Design will also be making a donation to the Marston Vale Forest and attending a tree planting day in line with their environmental aims.

Design agency lights a fire
Goodthings are proud to have worked with Bonfire Design to develop their Corporate Social Responsibility policy and action plan for 2008/9. Bonfire Design have always had a strong social element in their work especially through their support of young designers, design education, and the support of charities through both donations, work in kind and sponsored activities.
As the company grew they felt that they should embed their socially conscious ethos into their strategic vision for the future. In consultation with their staff a CSR policy and action plan was written. Highlights include: a commitment to recycling all paper waste and a reduction of carbon emissions by 10% over the next year, support for Keech Cottage through a cash donation and payroll giving, and match funding for employees who undertake sponsored activities. A tree planting day is planned for the winter and work experience placements will be offered to design students early next year. Nice one Bonfire!
