Marston Vale

Goodthings is proud to work in partnership with the Forest of Marston Vale.

The team behind the Forest of Marston Vale are using trees and woodlands to transform 61 square miles between Bedford and Milton Keynes, repairing a landscape scarred by decades of clay extraction, brickmaking and landfill. They have already planted over 1 million trees and by 2031 will plant 5 million more, working with local communities, government and businesses, to create new woods and other wild places for everyone to enjoy.

Goodthings and Martson Vale work closely together to offer bespoke team building and conservation experiences at the Forest Centre and within the Forest itself.

Keech Cottage Children's Hospice

Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice is run by The Pasque Charity and supports over 190 families from across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes who are facing the loss of their child.  The children cared for by Keech Cottage have been diagnosed with a life-limiting condition and most are expected to die in childhood.

Care for children is available either in the charity’s bright and comfortable hospice near Luton, or if requested, in the family home by a Keech community nurse.

The aim at Keech Cottage is to enable families to make the most of the precious time they have left with their child. Staff offer help, support and friendship to the whole family, throughout the child’s illness and after their death, for as long as it is needed.

There is ample provision at Keech Cottage for play and recreation in the care unit with its multi sensory room, ball pond and adapted play ground, as well as specialist facilities for therapies and learning with the hydrotherapy swimming pool and sibling support groups.  All of these facilities, plus more, help to ensure the children’s hospice is a place for living.

Each year it costs around £2 million to run Keech Cottage, and like most children’s hospices across the UK, the charity receives just a fraction of its funding from the National Health Service and so relies on the generosity of the community to raise over 75% of its costs.
